So here is one of the things that first sparked the idea of Flagr...The cofounders (Matt, Cole, and I) went on a photographic journey to Maine. Matt brought his GPS device, and we tracked our trip, geotagging pictures along the way.

We'd really like to thank you for the two days of no internet connectivity. It was a real hoot trying to run a web startup without the web.Posted by Dave Mon, 27 Mar 2006 07:38:00 GMT
Apparently, there is a town in New Mexico called Truth or Consequences... someone should lose their city naming privileges over this one.Posted by Dave Fri, 24 Mar 2006 22:57:00 GMT
Just wanted to give a shout out to a few star Flagrs...some of my favorites:
stowawayhome - Beautiful places, wonderful pictures, short yet meaningful descriptions. But he/she has no friends. Come on... let 'em know we care!
denimnews - This guy is on fire with the mobile flags. Him and his buddies own NYC, apparently. According to his profile, he likes women with long dark hair. If you find yourself with such traits, you may be interested... he seems like he frequents some fancy (expensive) places.
Altzgamer - He shows us how beautiful Russia really is. Although he made a comment that disturbs me.
dlin - Dan's been all sorts of places, mostly in the US. He also has a hefty amount of amigos.
jeffremer - Jeff knows San Francisco pretty well, but has some interesting flags in Hawaii and Brazil.

So almost everyone refers to Flagr as a mashup, but I beg to differ... A mashup, by definition, is a service that combines at least two services...diggdot.us is a good example. So why do people call flagr a mashup? Is it because we use a google map? If so, Google maps API use has become synomymous with a mashup, no matter what the case. In other words, the word "mashup" has lost it's original meaning. It's simply a loose buzzword, like web 2.0 and ajax. I'd like to hear it from you. Do you think Flagr is a mashup?
